Cherry blossoms are called the symbol of Japanese culture, and have been
composed in many tankas (Japanese poems) from old times. From March to April,
when the news of cherry blossoms flowering is received from south, people go
to see cherry blossoms in a body. Cherry blossoms are in bloom in a short
period. Above all, Someiyoshino, which account for 90 percent of all
species of Japanese cherry blossoms, is in bloom only 5 days. People enjoy
the beauty of the flowers, and feel sorry for them to fall. Kyoto has many
famous sights for cherry blossoms. Please enjoy beautiful photos of cherry
blossoms. (photo by Sadao Kihara)
