Kyoto is the perfect blend of traditional culture and modern progression. One can see the performance of an ancient Noh play or a showing of the latest movie. One can hear the strumming of the centuries, old capital or the rendition of a Beatle's song somewhere in the distance. During the day, people flood Kyoto's streets and transits dressed in business suits, uniforms, or kimonos, hustling to and from the office, school, or marketplace. At night, thousands gather to experience its night life at its numerous clubs, bars and restaurants. The temples and shrines which are scattered throughout the city share the same streets as arcades and shopping malls. Although , Kyoto blends traditional culture and modern progression, one may worry that the sublime beauty of the traditional could become minimal, if not nonexistent as the progression slowly takes over. Kyoto needs to celebrate and incorporate more of its ancient history into its everyday life, instead of reserving it for holiday only. |
