Hello Shiga!

Stephanie Rosales

As I walk the streets of Shiga, the moving culture amazes me. The lights of Pachinko flash, trendy shops sparkle, and cars fight for space. Yet above all this, the culture of a people with a deep and rich heritage is what I notice.

This is my first visit to Japan and assured it won't be my last. Currently I am participating in a work study program organized by Biwako Kisen Company. This opportunity has given me the chance to be a part of the cultural diversity of Shiga.

There are so many things in Shiga that you can be a part of and so many places you can get a smile. Traditional cultural events include Temples, Shrines and Primitive dances. The beautiful gardens and the concern for the community that everyone shares are all of equal importance.

In all Japan, Shiga is a place of inspiration and the opportunity to grow and experience life.
