Recently, the construction of the Tango Discovery, a new type of diesel limited express train, has been completed for the Kitakinki Tango Railway (KTR), which runs in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture.
The Tango Discovery trains have rounded fronts and have adopted a two color exterior, blue-green and gray, to represent the mountains and sea of the Tango region. It is a luxuriant train which has spacious seats. In the back of the train behind the crew's compartment, there is a free space where the passengers can enjoy a panoramic view of the scenes outside. The train also has a baby bed in the washroom and is capable of accommodating wheelchairs. The Tango Discovery has two cars and will begin service on the 16th of March. At Amanohashidate and Ayabe, passengers can connect with limited express trains from Osaka and Kyoto. The train also goes directly from Shin-Osaka Station to Amino and Kumihama via the Fukuchiyama Line. |
