Kyoto Computer Gakuin (Kyoto School of Computer Science, head office in the Sakyo ward of Kyoto) has formed an agreement with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the U.S., famous in fields such as graphic arts, for the mutual exchange of instructors and students. Representatives from both institutes met in Kyoto recently to sign the formal agreement. Kyoto Computer Gakuin is the second institute in Japan to form such a relationship with RIT, the first being Kanazawa Institute of Technology. The institute is expecting the affiliation to promote the learning of the leading technologies needed for the age of multimedia.
RIT, located in Rochester, New York, is a private institute with approximately 14,000 students. The institute is well known as a leader in such fields as computer graphics and photographic engineerings. Last year Kyoto Computer Gakuin sent students to RIT for a short-term study in graphic arts, one step in the institute's efforts to promote exchanges with RIT. Vice President of RIT, Stanley D. McKenzie, attended the signing ceremony. Mr.McKenzie stated that he was happy to form an association with a school based in Kyoto, where RIT students can also learn about Japanese culture, and that RIT hopes to welcome many young people from Japan. |
