Wind Bell Festival along Approach to Fushimi Inari Shrine Until August 2
"Fushimi Inari San-do Kaze no Shirabe," a summer event to savor the melody of wind bells made from ceramics, glass, ironware, etc. along Shinko Approach to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, began on July 24. The refreshingly cool sounds are played as approximately 300 wind bells catch the wind blowing on the approach.
The event is sponsored by "Tosei-kai," or the association of stores along the approach. This is the seventh year the association has held the event as part of its aim to promote the approach that delights the five senses.
Lovely ceramic wind bells in shapes such as foxes or beckoning cats, glass Edo ones ringing refreshing tones, Nanbu Ironware ones emitting high and clear tones, and other wind bells have been displayed along the Shinko Approach. Under the sweltering sunlight, visitors and residents were fascinated by the sounds ringing out from the wind, and stopped to listen carefully for a while. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until August 2, except in the case of rainy weather.
