Kiyomizu no Butai: Fantastic Emergence after Rain
Evening Admission Starts November 12

Prior to the autumn special evening admission period, a lighting equipment test was conducted at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, on the evening of November 11. In the clear air after the rain, approximately 1,000 maples trees were illuminated by soft lights.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple set up approximately 500 lights in its precincts. Viewed from the "Okunoin," or the innermost temple, from which the urban area of the city can be seen, the "Kiyomizu no Butai," or main hall with a high wooden terrace, and the "Sanju no To," or three-story pagoda, emerged against the dark night sky. Maple leaves on the top branches have just begun changing colors, and they will be at their peak around the end of November.

The special evening admission continues from November 12 till December 6, starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 9:30 p.m. There is an admission fee.
