National Treasures of 16 Shrines and Temples
Special Admission from October 13

"Kyoto Chie to Chikara no Hakuran-kai Suishin Kyogikai," or association of Kyoto exhibitions of wisdom and power, in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, which is made up from Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry and others, is now accepting applications for one of its main events. The exhibition will take place from October 13 involving special admission to the gardens and national treasures of 16 of Kyoto's shrines and temples as well as lectures by the head priests.

Sponsors include the Kyoto Buddhist Organization and "Kyoto-fu Jinjya-cho," or Kyoto Prefecture association of Shinto shrines. Starting off with Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Higashiyama Ward on October 13, there will be exhibitions until December 13, which will be held in order at Kenninji Temple, also in Higashiyama Ward, To-ji Temple in Minami Ward, Byodo-in Temple in Uji City, Kamigamo Shrine in Kita Ward, and Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Yawata City, and other locations. At Kiyomizu-dera Temple, the chief priest, Seihan Mori, will give a lecture, and the west gate, and Joju-in temple will be open for special viewing.

There is a 1,000 yen participation fee for each exhibition, with space limited to 50 people, or 100 people for Kiyomizu-dera Temple. The application deadlines are October 6 for exhibitions up to November 6, and November 28 for later exhibitions. For further details, visit the association's Web site (Japanese only).
