Past and Present Kyoto Imperial Park Beloved Park with Abundant Nature
An exhibition introducing photographs of the Kyoto Imperial Park, taken since the Taisho Period, started on January 19 at the lecture room in the Kan-in-no-miya Imperial Family's former house located in the Kyoto Imperial Park, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto. On display are approximately 80 photographs, including sets of pictures in which the present cityscape is compared with that of years ago, such as the Karasuma-Maruta-machi intersection where trams used to run, and other pictures depicting the natural riches of the park, which has been loved as an open park by citizens since the Meiji Period.
The exhibition will continue until March 14, and is closed on Mondays. An approximately 1 hour tour, limited to 50 participants, in which the park staff and others introduce must-see spots in the park, will be held on January 28, February 11 and 25, and March 4 and 11, from 2:00p.m. Both the exhibition and tour are free of charge.
