Kyoto City Issues Free Pass Enjoy Winter Sightseeing via Public Transportation and on Foot
Kyoto City has begun sales of "Kyoto Free Pass," a special one-day ticket allowing unlimited travel by almost all buses and trains running in the city in order to enjoy winter sightseeing via public transportation and on foot.
The pass was planned by the municipal government with the cooperation of 15 public and private transportation organizations operating in the city. This year, JR lines are included in the free travel lines, covering Kameoka Station on the San-in Line to the west and Uji Station on the Nara Line to the south.
The pass also includes privileges like discounts and presents at approximately 200 restaurants and shops, as well as major sightseeing spots. The pass costs 2,000 yen, and will be sold at the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau's Information Office and other places until March 22, 2012.
