37 Cherry Blossom Spots
Kyoto City Issues "Sakura Map"

Kyoto City has published "Kyoto Sakura Map 2011," an A5-sized 32-page booklet introducing cherry blossom-viewing points in the city. The booklet, which includes a special feature on scenes with cherry blossoms depicted by literary figures in the Meiji Period, is distributed free of charge at ward offices, tourist facilities and other places in Kyoto.

The booklet introduces 37 spots with photos of their cherry blossoms, including Nijo Castle in Nakagyo Ward and the Philosophers' Path in Sakyo Ward. Also included are an article contributed by Manabu Makime, the author of "Kamogawa Horumo," or Battle League Horumo, and special passages from novels in the Meiji Period which describe cherry blossoms in Kyoto.

Four hundred thousand copies are available at 650 places, including temples and shrines introduced in the booklet, as well as hotels.
